Palmer Package
(both doctors are Palmer graduates)
Palmer package
is a system of chiropractic care taught by the Palmer College of Chiropractic. It includes a variety of techniques. The main ones being: Diversified, Thompson, Gonstead, and Toggle Recoil. Diversified consists of spinal analysis to identify the improper position of one or more vertebrae and a manual thrust to correct that position, and the administration of a manual thrust. Thompson uses a special table with drop-away sections to minimize the amount of energy needed to adjust the spine. In Gonstead, the practitioner uses full-spine X-rays and then has the patient sit, kneel, or lie on their side so adjustments can be made. Finally, Toggle Recoil consists of the administration of a high-speed, low-force thrust to the upper cervical spine.
Cox
The Cox technique reverses the harmful effect of gravity on spinal discs and joints. It is meant to reverse a herniated or bulging disc, most often in the neck or lower back. This technique is highly effective for these difficult conditions and
is an excellent alternative to lower back surgery.
Gonstead
The Gonstead technique is a full-spine technique, not just a cervical adjustment. It uses x-rays as a reference for curves of the spine and for disc spaces.
Diversified
Diversified chiropractic technique addresses biomechanical failure in each section of the spine, as it relates to subluxation
Activator
Activator method is a proprietary diagnostic and treatment system based on the belief that differences in leg length indicate the need for spinal adjustments. The technique utilizes a small handheld instrument, called an activator, with a soft rubber tip to deliver a light, circumscribed force to the area deemed in need of treatment. This gentle technique works well for patients who do not like the sound associated with adjustments performed by hand. It also works well for patients who cannot handle a forceful adjustment.
SOT
Sacral Occipital Technique (SOT) is a method of chiropractic care designed to normalize the relationship between the foundation of the spine (sacrum) and the top of the spine (occipital). The therapy aims to reduce or eliminate pain, but its primary goal is to normalize whole body function. We often use this technique in combination with Cox technique in treating disc bulges and herniations.
Nimmo
The Nimmo technique uses compression to alleviate extremely tense muscles or trigger points that have formed due to trauma, poor posture, and physical or emotional stress.
Trigger Point Therapy and Myofascial Release
Trigger point therapy is a bodywork technique that involves the applying of pressure to tender muscle tissue in order to relieve pain and dysfunction in these muscles or other parts of the body.
